Pines-Forest-Ashbury
The 27 hole combination course is made up of 3 nine hole courses – Pines, Forest and Ashbury. Two of these are played to give three separate 18 hole courses and this allows us to maximise the tee off times available during the peak periods of the day.
The Ashbury Course – 5804yds Par 69
Part of the 27 hole combination course, the Ashbury 9 is played in conjunction with the Pines 9. The course incorporates a number of the original holes built in 1991. During the winter of 08/09 three of the greens were redesigned, whilst some tee blocks have been re-built and extended. There have been around 500 trees planted around the course from the tree plantations on the Kigbeare estate. These changes have helped the definition of the holes and made a vast improvement to the course. The course offers some of the finest views from any of our courses, with views South to Dartmoor and North East towards Exmoor and the surrounding countryside. It also offers views onto our Kigbeare, Forest, Beeches, Oakwood and Willows courses.
Ashbury 2nd - 175yds Par 3 – A short par 3 with views across the main complex, the Willows course and the 1st and 18th holes on the Oakwood Course. The hole has been improved over the years with extensive work on both the drainage and the green; which has been increased in size. The hole also offers panoramic views across to Dartmoor as shown in the above picture.
Ashbury 5th – 470yds Par 5 – An uphill hole into the prevailing wind and with the fairway sloping left to right makes this is a testing par 5. The green was re-designed and re-built in the winter of 08/09 and is now twice the size. The edge of the green has been banked up which will help shots hit slightly off target to roll back onto the putting surface.
Ashbury 6th – 410yds Par 4 – A downhill hole, a drive down the right side of the fairway will open up the green on this dogleg right to left. During the winter of 2008/09 the green was re-designed and re-built, it is now twice as large as before. One of our original holes built in 1991, this hole offers fantastic views across the complex. The courses visible include the Pines, Beeches and Kigbeare. To the left of the pin both the 4th and 16th holes of Kigbeare are visible. From the green you are able to look South to Dartmoor and as the photo shows North East towards Exmoor.
