Pines-Forest-Ashbury
The 27 hole combination course is made up of 3 nine hole courses – Pines, Forest and Ashbury. Two of these are played to give three separate 18 hole courses and this allows us to maximise the tee off times available during the peak periods of the day.
The Forest Course – 6140yds Par 71
Part of the 27 hole combination course, the Forest 9 is played in conjunction with the Ashbury 9. The course incorporates some of our newest holes built on the Kigbeare Estate and forestry plantations. When constructing 4 new holes in the forestry plantations around 21,000 tonnes of top soil were brought in, to shape and build the holes. The result leaves 4 stunning holes surrounded by large mature trees. This course also gives views onto the Beeches course on the Kigbeare Estate as well as views across the valley to the Ashbury course and Dartmoor beyond.
Forest 8th – 442yds Par 4 – A wide and inviting hole constructed on the edge of the forestry plantation. The hole is flanked by pine trees on the right and with a mixture of Oak, Sycamore and Ash trees from the tree plantations on the Kigbeare Estate down the left. Approach shots down the left side of the fairway need to be aware of a pond 80yds short of the green and out of bounds to the right.
Forest 4th – 178yds Par 3 – The large undulating green is an enticing target, however be aware of three pot bunkers to the right of the green; which are ready to catch shots hit off target.
Forest 9th – 522yds Par 5 – A fantastic hole, which has been lengthened and improved over the last year. A new tee has been constructed, which has changed the hole from a Par 4 to a Par 5. Extensive ground work has been carried out, with some bunkers being filled in. This has improved the hole with good shots being rewarded and not punished. The two tiered green is defended by bunkers, which makes an accurate approach shot important.
Forest 7th – 170yds Par 3 – A short but tricky hole built within a forestry plantation. Lined with mature pines down both sides of the hole and behind the green, means that wayward tee shots make a par difficult to achieve. Due to the nature of the construction, the hole feels more mature than its age suggests and is visually stunning.
