Pines-Forest-Ashbury

The 27 hole combination course is made up of 3 nine hole courses – Pines, Forest and Ashbury. Two of these are played to give three separate 18 hole courses and this allows us to maximise the tee off times available during the peak periods of the day.

The Pines Course – 6400yds Par 72

Part of the 27 hole combination course, the Pines 9 is played in conjunction with the Forest 9. These holes were constructed in 2001 and offer views across rolling Devon countryside. During the construction of this course sections of existing hedgerow were moved to help form new holes. Over the last 2 winters around 500 trees from the Kigbeare plantations have been re-planted around the course, this has helped to give the holes added maturity. The winter of 08/09 has seen more improvements made to the course, some new tee blocks have been built extending the length of some of the holes and some of the ditches have been filled in, so that good shots are rewarded rather than punished.

Pines 5th – 180yds Par 3 – A downhill hole where tee shots hit long and right of the hole will be caught by a pond and anything long and left will be caught by a bunker. Shots pitching short should release on to this large green.

Pines 4th – 270yds Par 4 – An accurate drive is required on this short but tricky par 4. The drive is uphill, with a narrowing fairway. There are 3 ponds on the right of the hole and large trees left and right, ready to catch any inaccurate shots. A safer option is to take an iron off the tee, leaving a short iron to this long narrow three tired green.

Pines 1st – 430yds Par 4 – New trees have been planted down the left hand side as you tee off. A drive down the left hand side of this wide fairway which slopes from left to right, will make an easier approach to this large stepped green. For approach shots coming from the right hand side, be aware of the bunker on the right side of the green.

Pines 6th – 452YDS PAR 5 – This dogleg right to left hole is one of the shorter par 5’s on the complex. The Winter of 08/09 saw extensive work carried out on this hole. The drainage ditch around 240yds from the tee has been part filled in the centre. This ensures that good straight drives are not punished and gives the possibility of reaching this large green in two.
